I understand the players are currently under a CBA
What I don't know is whether all 23 players plus all of the women available in the pool of players participated in negotiations or not. It is possible the CBA was already in place before a player was called up to play on the national team. As a result, if the player wanted to play for the National Team, then she had to agree to the CBA. At least she couldn't play for the National Team and not agree with the CBA.
This issue occurs in any pro league with a CBA when new players join the league. The only difference here is there is a patriotic pride element when you play for the National Team. In that regard, I view a country's national team as being different than any pro league (including the WNBA). So I don't think your question about WNBA is germane to this discussion.
